A weekend to forget
We were going camping at Miara caravan park for a few days over Xmas. We towed the boat out and noticed on the way out the boat seemed to be bouncing around a bit so we pulled over to check it out, found nothing obvious so kept going. When we arrived I decided to unhook the boat trailer so we could get to the gear in the fourby and that's when i noticed the S/S eyelet on the front of the boat was missing, the rough rough road out to Maira had pulled the eyelet straight out of the boat. Which ment if i put the boat in the water, how was i going to pull it up. We deiced to put it in anyway and worry about getting it out at the end of the trip. We then proceeded to put up the tent in gale force winds which was a task but we got there. Then we started putting the stretcher beds in the bed and realised that we could only fit 3 beds in and their was 4 of us. So guess who slept out ander the tarp with the sand flys. Then night time came and it proceeded to piss down all night. My wife got up in the middle of the night and noticed the tarp starting to pool in the middle so she pushed the water out with the broom, guess where all the water went, all over me and my nice warm bed. The next morning finally came and so did the sun, off we go in the boat. After a short while the motor starts loosing power so we head back in. A couple of hours later we get the motor going but the minute i put it under load it died. So the boat got tied to a tree and that's where it stayed for the rest of the trip. Lucky Alex had his boat so the next day we decide to get up early to catch the tide and go out in his boat, guess what, his bloody motor wouldn't start. A couple of hours of fart arsing around, cursing and swearing the motor started. A few days go buy with it bucketing down every night, don't forget i'm not in the tent, anyway a few days go buy without catching anything worth keeping so it's time to pack up and go home, thank christ for that. Getting the boat on the trailer with out a anything to hook a bow rope onto was not an easy task. The trailer is all loaded up and so is the car, time to reverse the fourby back and hook the trailer on. As the car is fully loaded my rear vision was non existant so i'm watching very closely in the side mirrors for the trees, i slowly reversed passed what i thought was the last tree so i started to swing it around, well guess bloody what ! that wasn't the last tree was it. I reckon i probably did about $1500 to $2000 damage to the rear corner of the car. It was a very silent trip home, i don't think the kids were game to even breath all the way home.
That's one trip i would prefer to forget.
